WINCHESTER, Okla. — Okmulgee County Emergency Management officials say floodwaters are washing out roads, which is trapping people inside their neighborhoods.

With 5 inches of rain falling overnight near Winchester, residents on Frankfurt Road can’t get out, but officials say work has begun to repair the issue. They say they were unable to begin work right away because waters needed to recede first.

OCEM says it checked on the area throughout the day, and by afternoon, work was able to begin.

They are planning to work overtime, but say the process won’t be complete tonight because a hand machine has to be used, which is a longer process.
