Oklahomans With Past Due Child Support May Not Receive Stimulus Check

Posted at
and last updated

Up to 130,000 Oklahomans may not receive the new stimulus checks if they are past due on child support, according to Oklahoma Human Services.

The Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996 is a federal law that could block the stimulus payment.

Oklahoma Human Services doesn't have the authority to circumvent or redistribute the intercepted money.

The IRS will handle these payments the same as an intercepted tax return.
