SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP) -- An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while helping a motorist along Interstate 40 east of Oklahoma City.
OHP Lt. John Vincent says the trooper was out of his patrol car and in the median of the interstate near Shawnee just after 8 a.m. Tuesday when a vehicle went into the median and rolled into the trooper. The trooper was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital with leg and head injuries and possible internal injuries.
Vincent said he hasn't been told whether the injuries are life-threatening.
The names of the trooper and the driver of the other vehicle have not been released.
