Tax-free shopping weekend is just days away.
Oklahoma parents are preparing their shopping lists to make sure they get everything their child needs for the semester. But you don't have to have a child in school to cash in on the deals.
Some items exempt from sales tax include:
- shoes
- clothes
- neckties
- bathing suits
- aprons
- diapers
- Click here for full list of items exempt.
However, there are some stipulations. Each individual item has to be less than $100 and actual school supplies like laptops, folders and pencils are not tax free.
And don't forget that tax free can apply to online shopping as well. The online store just has to be aware of the tax free weekend in Oklahoma.
Some may honor it while others may not.
Coupons are allowed as well! Be careful though as some manufacturer coupons do not allow an item's price to be decreased to fit into the tax-free egibility, Offers.com said.
Tax-free weekend also includes layaway. However, the final payment must be made during the tax-free weekend. Unfortunately, raincheck items do not qualify.
Tax-free weekend starts Friday, Aug. 7.
