WOODWARD, Okla. — An Oklahoma school district is mourning the loss of a student who died after being diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.

KFOR reported that the student, at Woodward Public Schools, was in seventh grade, and died over the weekend.

A post on the district's Facebook page says the student " embodied the best Boomer values of loving kindness, character and friendship, and she will be missed by her teachers and peers alike."

The school district says there is not concern for classroom-based transmission, and the general public is not at risk.
