Scammers can be very convincing and often prey on those most vulnerable, so Oklahoma Gas and Electric is sharing some signs of potential scam activity to watch out for.
The first one is a threat to disconnect.
Another is a request for immediate payment via prepaid card and lastly, fraudulent electronic communications.
Customers should never purchase a prepaid card to pay their bill, officials say.
And if someone threatens to immediately shut off service, official say to just hang up.
