Oklahoma doctors see increase in RSV cases

Posted
and last updated

Another virus crowding hospitals in Oklahoma is the respiratory syncytial virus or RSV.

It is a common and very contagious virus that affects kids under the age of two.

Doctors say it typically causes minor cold-like symptoms, but in some cases, it can also cause severe illness, like pneumonia.

RSV spreads through the air and through direct contact, such as touching.

As with many illnesses, officials say washing your hands is the best way to avoid getting sick.
