After the recent shootings in Dayton and El Paso, there is a push for people to get First Aid training, specifically in techniques that slow or stop heavy bleeding.

The "Stop the Bleed Campaign" is hosting two trainings in Oklahoma this year.

The first Stop the Bleed Course will be Sept. 18, in Stillwater at the Total Health Medical Fitness and Rehab located at 1810 North Perkins Road. The class is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information, call 405-533-4348.

The second Stop the Bleed Course will be on Dec. 4, in Oklahoma City at Samis Education Center Auditorium - The Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center located at 1200 North Children's Avenue. The class is from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 405-417-4164

Emergency management officials are working to educate everyday people by expanding the "Stop the bleed" campaign to all 50 states.

The initiative was started after the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting and shows people how to treat hemorrhaging, one of the primary causes of death in trauma care.
