Senator Allison Ikley-Freeman of Tulsa is in the hospital after being involved a fatal crash Friday morning on the Turner Turnpike, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

OHP officials said Enrique Lopez was driving a Chevrolet Camaro when the car hydroplaned and ran off the road into a ditch. Lopez did not survive the crash.

A short time later, OHP said Ikley-Freeman hydroplaned, slamming into Lopez's vehicle.

Ikley-Freeman remains at the OU Medical Center where she was transported Friday and underwent surgery, according to Senate Democratic Leader Kay Floyd. She is stable and alert.

Floyd issued the following statement Tuesday updating Ikley-Freeman’s condition:

Visitation to the hospital is limited by COVID-19 restrictions but I have been able to speak to Allison by phone. While I want to continue to be mindful of federal privacy regulations, I can share that Senator Ikley-Freeman is very thankful for her excellent care and is deeply grateful for the outpouring of support she’s received from her colleagues, constituents, and people from throughout Oklahoma.
