OHP: Trooper hit with shrapnel during deadly shooting

Officials with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol say one of their own was hit with shrapnel during a deadly shooting tonight.

The shooting happened in McAlester during a pursuit, officials say.

Troopers say the suspect, led them on a chase on the Indian Nations Turnpike and Highway 69.

OHP says shots were fired and the suspect died. The suspect was identified as Mark Schoggins, 35.

The trooper involved was injured, but was treated on scene and released.

Authorities are not giving the names of those involved.
