UPDATE: Owasso Public School officials confirm identity of student killed in Wednesday crash

UPDATE: Owasso Public Schools District officials have confirmed that Owasso High School junior, Shea Powell, was killed in the accident on Hwy 20 at 177th East Avenue, Wednesday morning.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol says that a 17-year-old male of Owasso was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident on Hwy 20 at 177th East Avenue, Wednesday morning.

OHP says the passenger, a 17-year-old male from Collinsville, was transported to a local hospital, treated and released.

OHP says the car was traveling northbound on 177th East Avenue, failed to yield from a stop sign, and was hit by a commercial truck on the driver's side.

According to Owasso Public Schools, officials confirmed the accident that happened this morning near Hwy 20 and Keetonville Road involved students from Owasso High School.

Officials say, "Our school family is heartbroken with the news of this tragic accident."

Officials say that district counselors will be available for the staff and students at the Owasso High School today, on both campuses.

According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a fatality accident involving a commercial vehicle and a car near Hwy 20 and Keetonville Road.

Troopers say the accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. this morning.
