NOWATA COUNTY -  A 21-year-old woman was killed in Nowata County Sunday morning when her Ford truck veered off the road and caught fire after hitting a guardrail, according to OHP.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that Victoria Egermeier died at the scene on Highway 28, about a half mile west of CR 416.

Egemeier, of Delaware, Okla., was traveling eastbound on Highway 28 when the accident occurred near the Verdigris River Bridge.

Troopers say they could not determine the cause of the accident immediately and it was unclear whether she was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident.

The road was closed for almost two hours to clean up the scene, troopers say.
