OHP: 11-year-old girl drowns near Broken Bow Lake

MCCURTAIN COUNTY — Oklahoma Highway Patrol say an 11-year-old girl from California drowned in a creek near Broken Bow Lake.

OHP says the drowning happened around 1:45 p.m. on Monday, June 1 in McCurtain County.

An 11-year-old girl from Bakersfield, California was unable to swim and was wading in the Carson Creek area of Broken Bow Lake, Troopers said. The girl went under the water and never resurfaced.

OHP searched and found the girl in approximately six feet of water around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2 near the Carson Creek boat ramp.
