Sand Springs Police confirm a homeowner shot and killed an intruder; another in custody

SAND SPRINGS, Okla. - Authorities released new details in a deadly home break-in.

Sand Springs Police officers responded to 114 North Franklin on a report of a first-degree burglary on Thursday at 9:36 p.m.

When officers arrived, the home owner told them he shot one suspect with a rifle as he was trying to break in and detained another at gunpoint until police arrived.

When officers responded, they found one of the suspects, 37-year-old James Edward Patterson, shot dead outside the back door. The second suspect, 18 year-old Brandon Gray of Sand Springs was also taken into custody.

The home owner was interviewed by police and later released. The district attorney will now review the case.
