TULSA — According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the 1-44 resurfacing and bridge maintenance project at the Arkansas River in Tulsa will begin on Monday, October 14.

The nearly $4 million project is scheduled to begin Monday evening, officials say, and will make impacts to traffic through early 2020.

Officials say two miles of 1-44 from the Arkansas River bridge to about the 1-244 junction will be resurfaced and will take place over several weekends. Lanes will be narrowed during these times.

Both eastbound and westbound 1-44 will be narrowed at the bridge throughout the project as deck joints acroos 1-44/Arkansas River bridge are repaired, officials say. Major delays can be expected during peak travel times.

Officials are asking drivers to consider alternate routes or adjusting travel times. The overall project is expected to complete in early 2020, weather permitting, officials say.
