MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Janey Boydston is the new mayor in Muskogee after former Mayor Bob Coburn resigned to become the District 1 Transportation Commissioner.
Boydston has been the deputy mayor of Muskogee since 2018 and served on the city council from 2000 to 2008 and from 2015 until her recent elevation to mayor.
It's an honor to step in for Mayor Coburn," Boydston said. "He's a good friend and I'm happy for him. He will make sure ODOT listens to communities like Muskogee when they are making their decisions in the future."
Boydston, who was born and raised in Muskogee, will fill the remainder of Coburn's term, which ends in 2020.
