New evidence found in search for missing McAlester woman

Posted

MCALESTER -- New evidence was found Saturday in the search for a missing McAlester woman.

It's been nearly two months since Holly Cantrell went missing during her lunch break. Just last week, investigators recovered her purse.

But now investigators are hoping the evidence they found Saturday, a camisole that investigators believe could be Cantrell's, will lead them to her.

"All I can do is just hope and pray. That's all we can do," said Leroy McClauthery, a family friend.

McClauthery said he's been helping in the search for Cantrell since she vanished during her lunch break in January.

First responders and volunteers searched the ground Saturday near where Cantrell's purse was found last week, while drones searched the sky.

Officials eventually stopped the search after someone found the camisole in the woods.

"We did call one of her family members to come out and take a look at it, and the family member did confirm that it looks like it could be hers," said Brian Smith, OKC Search and Rescue Team State Coordinator.

Search officials said they also found rifle and pistol casings, shotgun shells, tweezers and earrings. They say they can't discount anything as the investigation continues.
