TULSA, OK (KRJH) — Just a half mile from Gathering Place sits a lot at 18th and Boston that's about to get a $4 million makeover.
The area is along a popular trail that could become a midtown destination, and neighbors are excited for a new potential hot spot with restaurants and retail.
The spot is overgrown in one area and a vacant lot in another; the developers who bought it say it's been that way for years. Now, they're envisioning three restaurant and retail buildings with a courtyard facing the trail.
Nicole Peltier Hall walks that portion of trail every day. She and her husband Ray live just up the road, and are excited for a destination to bring traffic back to the area.
"When I was in my early 20s this was the spot we drove across town to hit," Nicole said. "All the cool bars and dance clubs and restaurants were here. Then it's kind of settled down, and so I'd like to see it revive itself with more hip, modern things."
The developers at Fox + Hill Realty would like to see a mix of retail stores and restaurants move in to the 16,000 square feet of building space. They hope to start construction later this year, but there's no timeline yet for completion.
