TULSA, OK (KJRH) — Recent inspections at Savanna Landing found 85% of its residents are living without furniture and basic necessities. The property's Tenant Association wants to change that.

The Savanna Landing Tenant Association is hosting its Purge & Pour event on May 11, asking for donations of everything from beds and blankets to bathroom and kitchen supplies.

"We have infants sleeping on the floors," the event's page says. "We, as an association, knew that if it was happening in our complex, it was happening in all of our area."

Ella Marshall is the president of the Savanna Landing Tenant Association. She says the items being collected are some basic necessities we may take for granted, but many in the 61st and Peoria area have to do without.

“There’s nowhere around here where they can get furniture, or clothing, or the basic essentials they need,” Marshall said.

The call for items below lists everything that is needed. For information on how to donate before or after the event, how to volunteer, or what will be taken, you can call any of the numbers listed at the bottom of the page.

The event will go from 7:00 am 7:00 pm. The group will be taking donated beds, furniture, and kitchen and bathroom supplies.

The group wants to start doing these events twice a year, and begin reaching out to other apartment complexes in the area.
