The Public Service of Oklahoma says almost 100,000 customers were affected by the storms that started Thursday afternoon. PSO says more than 60,000 customers were still without power as of Thursday night.
"Over 100 thousand outages in the metro land area is really, really unusual. It has only happened a couple of times. This is a big deal. Totally unexpected," said PSO spokesperson Stan Whitefield. "It wasn't expected there was going to be severe weather. But that kind of severe weather caught everybody by surprise."
PSO says they are expecting to have all customers' power restored by Monday, click link below for more info and to report outages.
The company says they have requested additional assistance to help to restore power to customers.
They say most of the affected areas are southeast Tulsa, Coweta and Broken Arrow.
