TULSA — The National Weather Service is offering a free storm spotter training session Thursday night in Tulsa.
The training will be held at 6 p.m. at the Herman and Kate Kaiser Library at 5202 South Hudson Avenue.
Throughout Oklahoma and northwestern Arkansas, trained storm spotters provide first hand severe weather reports to local officials and to the NWS in Tulsa, which are used to make critical warning decisions.
The goal of the training is to not just recognize tornadoes, but also to have some understanding of storm structure.
The training is free and open to the public.
