Deputies were called to the 2600 block of South 67th Street East after receiving a call from a woman who said she was shot.
The woman, 68-year-old Marcia Ross, was transported to the hospital. Sheriff Frazier said she was out of surgery and was able to be interviewed.
Colleagues of the pair said hearing the news has been difficult.
"It's been a hard day. Time heals all wounds," said Gary Dunlap, a broker who worked with Ross. "This morning, it was one tear after another having to repeat the story for someone new or having to enlighten them of what happened. It's a tough day."
Sheriff Frazier says the medical examiner's report will ultimately help determine a motive.
