MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Muskogee Public Schools released a statement after a student brought an unloaded BB gun to the 7th and 8th Grade Academy on Thursday morning.
District officials said school administrators were made aware of the incident and campus police detained the student and secured the BB gun.
The district is grateful to those who reported the situation and the school administration who worked quickly to address the issue.

According to a press release, the district is following the board's policy on possession of a BB gun and will implement the appropriate disciplinary actions.
"Muskogee Public Schools is dedicated to ensuring that student safety is our highest priority," said district officials.
