Musician on a mission: Kool & The Gang's Sir Earl Toon in Tulsa collecting coats for kids in need

Posted

After touring the world as a member of "Kool & The Gang," helping the legendary band sell more than 75 million records worldwide, Sir Earl Toon is in Tulsa this weekend.

The musician is collecting coats for kids with his non-profit organization "Give a Kid a Coat."

Sir Earl Toon started the organization with a partner in 2012 after witnessing a kid walking to school in winter without a coat.

Anyone in Northeast Oklahoma who would like to donate a new or gently used coat can drop it off at Holiday Inn Express in Glenpool or Ike & Emma's Steakhouse on Highway 75 between Tulsa and Okmulgee. All the coats collected locally will stay here in Northeast Oklahoma and go to kids in need.

The non-profit organization also accepts tax deductible donations at its website, giveakidacoat.org.
