TULSA -- A mural design has been selected for Tulsa's Mother Road Market, which is set to open in August.

The 20 x 20 outdoor mural, which will be done by local artists Yatika Fields and Janet Davie, will face Lewis Avenue.

“This image for the mural depicts the heart and spirit of Route 66, while also communicating the sustenance that Mother Road Market will provide to the Tulsa community,” said Fields. “This mural invites viewers to see the new frontier that exists, while paying homage to Route 66’s iconic and historical gateway.”

Work on the mural will begin in early July.

The market, which will will contain food and shopping options, is located on 11th Street and South Lewis Avenue in the historic 1939 Scrivner-Stevens Grocery building.
