TULSA, Okla. — The community is taking a major step forward in growing north Tulsa.

On Thursday, construction crews broke ground on Muncie Power Products' new facility at the Peoria-Mohawk Business Park.

The manufacturing company based in Muncie, Indiana, is the first to break ground on the 120 acre piece of land in an effort to redevelop and bring jobs to north Tulsa.

The development of this business park was funded through Vision Tulsa, an economic development plan approved by voters in 2016.

"Citizens of Tulsa showed through that vote that they wanted to make the kind of investment it would take to create greater economic opportunity and prosperity in this part of our city," Mayor G.T. Bynum said at the ground breaking.

Muncie's first phase of construction is expected to be finished in the spring.
