TULSA, Okla. — Big changes are in the works for Tulsa Public Schools.

Tulsa Classroom Teachers Association officials say that Grimes, Wright, Mark Twain and Jones elementary schools are all slated to close.

The 6th grade at Academy Central would move to Central Junior High School.

According to TPS, school principals spoke with their staffs about proposed changes around the district.

An internal memo discusses the changes, including moving Wright's deaf program to Patrick Henry, Tisdale absorbing Mark Twain, Memorial Junior High moving from grades 7-8 to 6-8, and Rogers and Central moving from grades 7-12 to 6-12.

TPS reminds everyone that the school board would have to approve any changes before they actually take place.

On Monday, December 2, the group "Parents, Teachers and Students for TPS Accountability" made a Facebook post saying Grimes, Wright, Mark Twain and Jones elementary schools are all slated to close.

2 Works for You reached out to TPS to confirm that information. The district replied a statement saying, "As we work to shape a viable and sustainable future for our district, we have identified some possible changes that would - if approved by our board - impact teachers, students, and families at certain schools in our district. We intend to share more information regarding potential changes with families on Tuesday."
