TULSA, Okla. — Mother Road Market is launching a family-friendly challenge called the Route 66 Medallion Hunt.

Here's how it works: Eight medallions will be hidden, four in Tulsa and four at other locations along Route 66, throughout October, November and December. Once a medallion is found, officials said the winner will take a photo of themselves with the medallion at the hiding spot and tag @MotherRoadMarket and their location on Instagram.

Mother Road Market said it partnered with Route 66 businesses and organizations to hide the medallions in public spaces.

Clues will be released weekly on Thursdays in Mother Road Market’s weekly newsletter. The prize for finding a medallion includes:

  • a $100 gift card from Shops at Mother Road Market
  • a private shopping experience
  • dinner for two from Mother Road Market (each medallion receives this prize package).
While the Route 66 Medallion Hunt was created in response to COVID-19 to help boost local businesses in Tulsa and also on Route 66, our hope is that this socially-distant event can grow and gain momentum leading up to the Centennial Celebration of Route 66. Oklahoma has more miles of Route 66 than any other state and that means more miles of opportunity for economic development, community, pride of place, and fun!
