ROGERS COUNTY, Okla. — The mother and grandmother of a 12-year-old girl have been sentenced in connection with the girl's death in April 2017.

The mother, Jennifer Spurlock, 36, and grandmother, Velva Patteson, both of Chelsea, were both arrested on second-degree murder charges in the death.

Officials said the two failed to seek medical attention for the child after she injected Patteson's prescription medication.

Spurlock and Patteson entered blind pleas in Rogers County District Court. Spurlock was sentenced to 20 years in prison and Patteson was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
