Tulsa's First African American Police Chief Named

TULSA — Mayor G.T. Bynum announced Tulsa's next police chief on Wednesday.

Mayor Bynum picked Major Wendell Franklin as Tulsa's new Police Chief.

At 3 p.m. Mayor Bynum will be making a formal announcement, according to his twitter page.

Major Wendell Franklin has worked with Tulsa Police Department for more than 20 years, and he manages the headquarters division.

Last week, Bynum named Deputy Chief Jonathan Brooks, Deputy Chief Eric Dalgleish, Major Wendell Franklin, and Deputy Chief Dennis Larsen as the final four candidates.
