Yesterday, the City of Tulsa recognized companies that make an effort to hire those who fought for our freedom.
Mayor G.T. Bynum recognized 14 companies as veteran employer champions.
Businesses honored included Lowe's.
Their store manager in Tulsa Hills is a veteran himself -- and says the military can teach a lot of life lessons.
"For me personally being a veteran its nice that we are able to bring some of them into our workforce," said Lowe's store manager Andrew Schweizer. "I think you learn a lot of skills in the military that are relatable to our business."
The companies honored were chosen based on whether they were actively recruiting, hiring and developing veterans.
