Mayes County man arrested for allegedly killing girlfriend with a hammer, deputies say

According to Mayes County Sheriff's Office, a man who allegedly beat his girlfriend to death with a hammer on Wednesday night has been arrested.

On Oct. 31, Deputies responded to a call about a possible homicide that took place on Wednesday, Oct. 30. When deputies arrived, they found a deceased woman in the home.

Deputies say 37-year-old Harvey Dale Murphy was arrested and booked into jail for murder in the first degree.

Mayes County Sheriff's Office asked both Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation and the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner for assistance.

Deputies say the victim was identified as 52-year-old Kimmy Jo Stipes.
