Man drowns while swimming at Lake Tenkiller Saturday in Cherokee County, Oklahoma

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) - A 42-year old Stilwell man has died after drowning on a lake in far eastern Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Benjamin Floyd Chambers drowned about 4 p.m. Saturday on Lake Tenkiller at the Carters Landing area near Tahlequah.

The patrol says Chambers was swimming at the edge of the water and holding onto rocks in about 20 feet of water.

For an unknown reason, the patrolmen says Chambers went under the water and didn't resurface.Authorities say the victim was under the water for more than 90 minutes.
