Man charged after fight at Dewey basketball game

DEWEY, Okla. - Charges have been filed after a fight involving players and parents broke out at a Dewey basketball game.

According to court records, William Porta of Bartlesville has been charged with assault and battery of an athletic official.

Porta is accused of punching a coach in the throat after kids got into a fight at a fourth grade basketball game.

Porta is scheduled to be in court on March 23rd.

According to the Dewey Police Department, an independent youth league hosted a game on February 6th between Dewey and Skiatook.

During the game, two boys began playing rough. Police say the boy eventually punched the other in the head, knocking him to the floor. 

Surveillance footage shows one of the coaches going onto the floor, as well as parents from the stands.

A few moments later, the stepfather of the boy that got hit ran at the coach and punched him in the throat.
