Man accused of murder is arrested in McAlister's Deli shooting in Bartlesville

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - The husband of a woman shot dead at a McAlister's Deli in June was arrested and booked on first degree murder charges Tuesday.

A Washington County official confirmed that Johnie Dean Downey, 53, of Pryor, was arrested by a Cherokee Nation Marshal near Grove on Tuesday and transported to Washington County Detention Center in Bartlesville.

Crista Arcella Downey, 46, was shot and killed in the parking lot of the deli and after the incident Downey told authorities that it was an accident.

According to authorities, the couple had just finished eating and were in the process of getting inside the truck to leave when the weapon discharged striking Crista Downey on her left side.
