TULSA, Okla. More than 300 students from Tulsa Public schools joined in Walk to School Day.
Ten TPS Elementary Schools participated.
Walk to School Day is a global event that began in 1997 as a one-time event.
Thousands of students from all 50 states, and more than 40 countries walk or bike to school on the same say.
They're joined by teachers, school leaders, parents and community members.
The event raises awareness for the need for safe walking and biking routes.
It also stresses the important of exercise.
