TULSA, Okla. — On National Girl Scout Day, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma awarded 13 students with the "Juliette Low Leadership Society" $1,000 scholarship.

18-year-old Haley Brooks from Troop 226 was one of the recipients. She wrote an essay about her experience with the organization and her love for science.

She attended the Space Academy through Girl Scouts Destinations twice since 2015, and she said that inspired her to pursue a future career in aerospace.

She's a senior at Sapulpa High School and has been accepted into one of the top aerospace and aviation colleges in the nation, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona.

"It feels great being into science and being able to tell the kids around me that they can do it too. I know a few little girls who look up to me," said Brooks.
