TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa nurse desperate for a safe place to quarantine after serving on the frontlines in New York is overwhelmed by generosity after a couple offered to pay for an entire stay at a hotel upon her return.

The 2 Works for You Problem Solvers spread the word of Katie Banas’ heroic actions on Friday.

Banas has been away from home for the last eight weeks, leaving behind her twin baby boys while she served on the frontlines in Brooklyn, taking care of the some of the most critically ill COVID -19 patients.

"It's been the hardest thing in the world, but I'm protecting my children more by not being there and not exposing them to this virus,” Banas said.

Her fear while she was away was not finding a safe place to quarantine when she came home. This, after she found out her program would not provide a free hotel stay in Tulsa like she originally thought.

"What they didn't really advertise was that those free hotels were going to be in harder hit areas,” Banas said. “Since Tulsa is not a harder hit area, we only got a $10 discount per night."

Banas’ mother reached out to the Problem Solvers last week after not knowing where to turn and running out of options. Our team set out to ask the people of Green Country if they could help.

As it turns out, a local and humble couple felt it in on their hearts to offer our local hero an all paid for 14-day stay at a hotel, and Banas kindly accepted. She said she is blown away by the couple's kindness and generosity.

Even more good news, the Hilton hotel in which Banas will be staying offered a discounted rate to honor her service in the fight against COVID-19.

Banas returns home Tuesday and will quarantine for the next 14 days. She will make it home just in time for her twin boys to turn one.
