Local democratic candidates say their signs were stolen in south Tulsa and not just in one neighborhood.
The white and blue signs are about $5 a pop. More than 500 are scattered around Tulsa. But Robert Founds says Friday night, all local democratic signs were removed in a five mile stretch.
"From 101st down to 148th and Memorial and the same on Sheridan and on Mingo," he said.
Founds hopes to be the next state senator from district 25. He's not the only blue candidate who says his signs were stolen.
"The one here at 101st and Memorial in particular had been replaced exactly in it's spot by one of my opponents signs," Democratic candidate for Tulsa County Court Clerk John R. Andrew said. "All of my signs are gone from here south. We've lost probably a good $50 plus."
"Candidates and volunteers need to understand that each city has their own ordinance for where you can place signs and sometimes when you can place signs," Tulsa County Republican Party Chairman Mike Ford said. "The big deal in Bixby is that you can't have signs between the road and the telephone poles."
But Founds checked with the city and he says they didn't remove the signs, not even maintenance crews.
"If a maintenance crew is going to pick up our signs, they are also going to pick up our opponents signs which we place ours right next to theirs," Founds said.
With the election about a week away, the candidates hope their momentum from earlier in the campaign keeps rolling through the 8th.
"That's what you see when people are scared," Andrew said. "They get really desperate and this is what we're seeing right now is desperate tactics."
Three candidates filed a police report. They're hoping police can use cameras in the area to help pinpoint who took the signs.
