BIXBY — Even though the government shutdown is over, for now, employees are still waiting for paychecks, and may not get them until late this week.

The owners of Bill and Ruth's sub shop in Bixby know the effects are still being felt.

They're still offering free meals to local government employees in need.

"We understand that government employees haven't been paid for a month now, and Bixby was so supportive to us, so we wanted to be supportive to our community as well," restaurant owner Ihab Kayello said.

If the government shuts down again in three weeks, the owners say they'll be ready to continue helping out the community.
