POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY – Investigators are trying to find more information regarding a recent find by a young boy who thought he discovered an old turtle shell.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a little boy found human remains on a river bank.

Rudy Nunez says his 5-year-old son found the skull Sunday on the North Canadian River and originally thought it was a turtle shell.

Nunez says he took his son and the skull home and called the sheriff's office Monday morning then led detectives to the location where the remains were found.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says if you find human remains, don't touch them.

“They should not disturb it back away from it and call 911 immediately,” said Jessica Brown, OSBI.

The sheriff's office says it's working to determine if the skull is connected to any missing persons cases in the area.
