TULSA, Okla. - Kerr Elementary School is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony of its new storm shelter and new classrooms on Tuesday morning.
The safe room is large enough to protect its more than 600 student body and staff members in case of severe weather.
Tulsa Public Schools passed a 2015 bond issue to build the shelter and new classroom wing totaling $2,750,000. Another 20 school sites were on the list to have safe rooms built approved by FEMA.
The ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. at 202 S.117th E. Ave.
