Kellyville firefighters responded to two fires, including one at an oil tank, they believe were caused by lightning strikes.

The oil tank fire, in a field near West 191st Street and Slick Road about 10 minutes south of Kellyville, broke out around 2:15 a.m. Thursday.

Kellyville and Kiefer fire departments responded to the massive blaze, which burned for at least 45 minutes.

While using foam to put out the fire in the oil tank, other firefighters sprayed water on a number of surrounding tanks to keep them cool.

They were also aided by someone who arrived to the scene to shut off the pumps.

Prior to the oil tank fire, Kellyville's assistant chief says they responded to a house fire.

The fire, according to KFD, was the result of a lightning strike that caused a fire to move from a gas stove to a refrigerator, which extinguished the fire.

Even before heading out to battle these fires, Kellvyville firefighters had to suit up in the dark and manually open their garage doors to get their engine and water tanker on the road.

When they returned two hours later, they were still without power.

No one was hurt in either fire.
