JAY, Okla. — According to Jay Public Schools classes are canceled Jan. 30 and Jan. 31 due to illness.

Officials say that 15% of the student population has been sent home or is absent due to illness.

Classes are to resume on Feb. 3, officials say.

Officials say the health of their student population is the "utmost concern". On Thursday and Friday, custodians will be working to santize classrooms, bathrooms, water fountains, door knobs, etc.

Officials say the AG Chapter Show will still take place, while High School detention is canceled for Saturday.

Junior High Basketball at Vinita is canceled on Thursday and the High School Wrestling at Muskogee will be rescheduled.

For Friday, Varsity Basketball versus Vinita will be rescheduled and homecoming has been moved to Feb. 7. Officials say wrestling will still go to Tahlequah for the Maverick Conference Tournament as this event cannot be rescheduled.
