TULSA - It's the first day back for more than 40,000 students at Tulsa Public Schools.
All 86 schools in the district will be starting the year with a teacher in every classroom.
TPS retained about 42 teaching jobs despite the cuts last year, thanks to the newly-approved $545 million budget.
Also, 286 vacancies were filled, compared to 500 last year.
Superintendent Deborah Gist will be paying several schools a visit Monday morning to meet with students and teachers.
