Injured firefighter hit by car returns home

Posted

A volunteer firefighter is back home after being hit by a car, while fighting last week’s wildfires in Nowata county.

After a weekend hospital stay, Jeff Mueller is recovering in his recliner at home. His leg elevated and covered with bandages just days after surgery.

The Centralia firefighter has a broken tibia and has to stay off his feet for eight weeks.

Mueller is not mad about what happened and is not upset with the driver that hit him.

He just wants the accident, to serve as a cautionary tale for drivers.

“If we get any good out of it, we can get the word out for people to be cautious and not drive into that smoke, because it could’ve been a lot worse,” Mueller said.

There is a GoFundMe account to help pay for Mueller’s medical bills.
