LAKE EUFAULA - Human remains have been found in Pittsburgh County not far from where a missing nurse's purse was discovered last year, Sheriff Chris Morris told 2 Works for You Monday evening.
A partial skull and bones appeared to be human, he said. The call came in Sunday night about the bones being found by a citizen.
Law enforcement agencies went to the area immediately, collected the evidence and sent the bones with the Medical Examiner's Office.
Officers and investigators did a grid search Monday where green clothing was also found with the bones, Morris said. McAlester nurse Holly Cantrell was reported missing a little more than a year ago when she left for lunch in her green scrubs and never returned.
Morris said the clothing and bones were found about a mile from where the purse was first discovered in a 2017 search. He said the green clothing found could possibly be scrubs, and this person could have been someone who worked in the medical field
McAlester Police are also working on the case.
