What do melting crayons have to do with the clothing you wear when the temperatures are so hot?
Quite a bit actually.
You hear all the time that you should wear loose-fitting and light-colored clothing when the temperature outside is so high.
The idea is that dark-colored clothing retains heat while light-colored clothing reflects it.
We decided to put that theory to the test by placing six different colored crayons - white, yellow, green, red, blue and black - on plastic plates under the sun. We started our experiment around 2:55 p.m. and within 30 minutes we had our results.
Watch the timelapse video above to see which crayons melted the fastest.
