TULSA – A man is in police custody this week after leading officers on a chase through east Tulsa.
According to the booking report, Brandon Martin was driving south on South Garnett Road at East 16th Street when an officer discovered that the plate on his vehicle matched that of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run as well as a pursuit.
The police officer attempted to issue a traffic stop and the car sped off, failing to stop at a red light, at East 17th Street and South Garnett Road.
The report states that Martin emerged on East 21st Street westbound and reaching speeds of 50 mph in a designated 40 mph zone.
Eventually the driver crossed over the median barrier drove into oncoming traffic before stopping due to a shredded tire.
Police say Martin’s eyes were bloodshot and when asked if he was under the influence Martin allegedly said he had consumed “ten shots” and “some heroin.”
Martin was arrested on complaint of two counts of hit-and-run, eluding officer and endangering others, speeding, driving under a suspended license, failing to stop at a red light, possession of a stolen vehicle and driving under the influence.
Martin was taken to a nearby hospital for a checkup then transported David L. Moss.
