A local group of supporters from all faiths came out to show they stand by their Muslim neighbors.
If the simple words of a handmade sign could lift someone's spirits, this gathering is an example of how it's done. The messages seem simple enough. But the words and the timing of them, mean so much to the Muslims here.
"Signs like that-- that show growth in the community that show communication, that's very important to identify and I think that's one thing I’d like to iterate is that it's not all doom and gloom," said Aamr Hasanjee.
Of course only so much can be said with a sign-- many at the event are hoping a much larger message permeates; how to spread the word that Muslims are not our enemies.
"Signs like that-- that show growth in the community that show communication that’s very important to identify and I think that's one thing I’d lie to iterate is that it's not all doom and gloom," Hasanjee said.
About 200 people showed up to show their support for the Muslim community.
